The president and CEO has overall responsibility for day-to-day operations in StatoilHydro. The president and CEO is responsible for developing StatoilHydro's business strategy and presenting it to the board of directors for decision, for development and execution of the business strategy, and for nurturing a performance-driven, value-based culture.

The president and CEO appoints the corporate executive committee (CEC). Members of the CEC have a collective duty to safeguard and promote the corporate interests of StatoilHydro and to provide the president and CEO with the best possible basis for deciding the company's direction, making decisions and ensuring execution and follow-up of business activities. In addition, each of the CEC members heads separate business areas or staff functions.
