Other operations consist of the activities of Corporate Services, Corporate Centre, Group Finance and the two corporate technical service providers, Technology and New Energy and Projects.

In connection with our other operations, we recorded a net operating loss of NOK 0.7 billion in 2008, compared with a loss of NOK 2.3 billion in 2007 and a loss of NOK 1.9 billion in 2006. The increase from 2007 to 2008 is primarily due to a gain related to the sale of IS Partner AS in 2008 and that no provisions were made for early retirement costs and other restructuring costs in 2008, as compared with 2007, when provisions were made for early retirement and pension benefits due to the merger. The increase was partly offset by increased costs because of higher activity.
