Planned actions 2009

Draw up a corporate climate policy.

A corporate climate policy was adopted by the corporate executive committee.

Further operationalise and implement StatoilHydro's climate policy.

Participate in the development of a CO2 strategy and studies for oil sands in Canada.

Implement measures defined in the "Green logistics" project.

Bring carbon capture on Snøhvit and In Salah up to the planned level. When this has been done, and when the Mongstad energy project (EVM) is later put into operation, the 2010 goal will have been achieved.

CO2-storage at Snøhvit brought close to planned levels at the end of 2008.

Injection efficiency over the year at In Salah was only 61% due to only one of two CO2 trains running parts of the year, due to lack of power.

Continue the work on solutions so that carbon capture and storage can be approved as CDM projects (clean development mechanism) in 2008/2009.

StatoilHydro has actively promoted CCS as a necessary measure to reduce CO2-emissions and to get CCS acknowledged as a climate change mitigation measure within  the CDM.

During the year, StatoilHydro will deliver low-blend biofuel in all markets with the goal of achieving a biofuel share of 3.4%.

In 2008, StatoilHydro achieved a biofuel share of 3.3% in all market.

Implement measures to improve the deployment of vessels with VOC reduction measures and increase the regularity of the systems.

Through upgrading plants and training personnel, the reduction efficiency for overall absorption and condensation reached the target for 2008, and projects aimed at increasing tank pressure during loading are ongoing.

Based on transport providers' input on future ship utilisation, make necessary decisions by the end of 2Q 2009 to have a sufficient number of VOC ships to meet the 95% volume requirement.

Send an application to SFT by the end of 2Q 2009 for amendment of the NMVOC emission permit to allow for future use of passive NMVOC reduction measures.
