Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI)
The Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) supports increased transparency and improved governance in resource-rich countries through the verification and full publication of company payments and government revenues from oil, gas and mining.
The EITI is a coalition of governments, companies, civil society groups, investors and international organisations. Then UK Prime Minister, Tony Blair, announced the initiative at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, September 2002.
StatoilHydro has supported the EITI since its foundation. We publish our revenues, investments and taxes paid in the countries where we operate, and we support national EITI projects in countries where we have extractive activities.
