FoEN is a nationwide organization with branches in all counties, and 155 local groups scattered throughout Norway.
The Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature/Friends of the Earth Norway (FoEN) was founded in 1914 and is Norway's largest environmental conservation organization with a total of about 28,000 members.

FoEN is a nationwide organization with branches in all counties, and 155 local groups scattered throughout Norway.

FoEN believes that public participation is necessary to save our environment.

One aim of FoEN's is to strive to protect nature and the environment in such a way that human activity does not exceed the carrying capacity of nature.

StatoilHydro entered in 2006 into a three-year cooperation agreement with the Norwegian society for the conservation of Nature.

The purpose of the agreement is to foster mutual exchange of ideas and knowledge to ensure that both parties remain scientifically leading, especially as regards challenges related to marine biology.

The agreement, moreover, also aims to improve FoEN's knowledge of the petroleum industry and how it operates, so as to strengthen FoEN's capacity in dealing with the environmental dimensions of the oil and gas sector.
