Statoil is one of the first major oil companies to start disclosing all revenues and payments in the countries in which it operates. It is a practice we intend to continue.

We have supported the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) since its inception in 2002/2003, and became a board member of the organisation in 2009, representing the national oil company (NOC) constituency together with Pemex of Mexico. Through the EITI, we work to promote principles of revenue transparency in the countries in which we operate. Statoil also has a collaboration agreement with Transparency International Norway.

In 2011, with a view to improving industry disclosure and reporting on sustainability issues, we continued our active membership of both the Global Reporting Initiative's (GRI) Sector Supplement Working Group on the oil and gas industry and the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association's (IPIECA) revision of the Oil and Gas Industry Guidance on Voluntary Sustainability Reporting.

Our aim is to work with industry, governments and civil society to operationalise our commitments in the countries in which we operate.
