When a tiny detail in our everyday environment is enough to make us smile...

I’m actually more a person who draws pictures than a person who takes photographs. I used to draw mostly portraits and my favourite technique was pastel (both oil and dry).
To help me train in sketching I started to look at photography in magazines or on the internet. But I quickly realised that what I wanted to reproduce in my drawings was not in those pictures, so that’s how I ended up using my camera more often.
I still focus a lot on portraits but I also enjoy capturing facts and scenes in my immediate environment. Of course it’s not necessarily of interest but it’s always linked to souvenirs or wishes – just like this picture which was taken in the heart of Paris. It’s quite representative of the kind of details I want to capture. It’s there, every day, everywhere but not so noticeable.
But I stopped my walking routine that day; the navigating colours attracted my attention. Then the undulations of the water led me to a peaceful state of mind.
Enjoy!
