The Angolan continental shelf is the largest contributor to Statoil's production outside Norway and Angola is a key building block for Statoil’s international production growth.

We have been in the country for almost 21 years and are partners in eight producing offshore fields, contributing approximately 200,000 barrels of equity production per day to our portfolio.

In December 2011 Statoil was awarded operatorship for blocks 38 and 39 and partner position in three pre- salt blocks. The Angolan pre-salt is a frontier play with high potential, believed to be analogous to Brazil's pre-salt reservoar.
