In 2010 Statoil and its partners Shell (operator) and GDF Suez were awarded two large exploration blocks in Baffin Bay off west Greenland. In 2012 Statoil farmed into the adjacent block 6. 

In 2013 Statoil (operator) and partners ConocoPhillips and Nunaoil were awarded block 6 off east Greenland.

West Greenland:

Block 5 (Anu): Shell (operator) (41.125%), Statoil (20.125%), GDF Suez (26.25%) and Nunaoil (12.5%)

Block 6 (Pitu): Cairn (operator) (56.875%), Statoil (30.625%), Nunaoil (12.5%)

Block 8 (Napu): Shell (operator) (46.375%), Statoil (14.875%), GDF Suez (26.25%) and Nunaoil (12.5%)

East Greenland:

Block 6: Statoil (operator) (52.5%), ConocoPhillips (35%) and Nunaoil (12.5%)
