One of the winners of the Natural Science Award 2011, Christopher Storm Larsen, won a day trip to the Statfjord A platform.

The assignment is prepared in line with the national physics and chemistry curriculum and may be used, for instance, as a project in the ordinary lessons.
Statoil’s Natural Science Award is a part of the Heroes of Tomorrow sponsorship programme.

The competition is a collaboration between Statoil and six regional science centres in Norway and has been an annual event since 2002.

For the natural science competition, Statoil divides the country into four regions, and participants first compete on a regional level. The two best entries will then be declared national winners.

This year’s first prize is NOK 50 000 for the class of the winning student. The money will be spent on a scientific excursion or similar. The individual winners will also receive a helicopter trip to a North Sea facility.
