Methanol is an important feedstock for the chemical industry. The global market represents around 36 million tonnes per year, with 19% consumed by Statoil’s market in western Europe.
The group’s main methanol customers are located in Germany, Scandinavia, Poland, the UK and along the Atlantic coast. Consignments are shipped to them directly from Tjeldbergodden.
Statoil has storage capacity for methanol in Norway, the Netherlands (Rotterdam) and the UK.
