The Stavanger crude oil trading department is responsible for European marketing of the group's Norwegian equity supplies of crude, as well as supplies owned by the Norwegian government.

Its staff of traders is backed by comprehensive mid and back office, operations, analysis, government liaison and business development units.

Sales of jet fuel, petrol (gasoline), gasoils, heating oils, electricity and emission allowances/credits are handled from the Stavanger office.

In addition to trading, this team's principal activity is to supply refined products to Statoil's marketing operations in Scandinavia, Poland and the Baltic states.

The office in Stavanger is also responsible for most derivative sales, both in-house and external, with refined products, emission allowances/credits and electricity.

Trading of propane and butane (liquefied petroleum gases – LPG), naphtha and ethane are handled by the NGL unit.

The office has a shipping department, which serves the various trading units, and representatives at the London and Stamford offices
