SvalSim is used in relation to general geo-related learning and both internal and Svalex field courses.

Geological, geophysical and petrophysical data from Svalbard have been gathered over a number of years and a selection of these have been incorporated in the geosimulator. Geological maps and cross-sections, photographs, videos and seismic surveys are built into the terrain.

Introductions to important local features with animations of geological processes that have occurred have also been incorporated.

In partnership with the Svalbard Museum, cultural-historical data on the most familiar tourist attractions has also been added.
