Reservoir evaluations and screening studies of CO2 injection for a selection of fields on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS) show improved oil recovery (IOR) potentials in the range of 3-7% of STOOIP.
This corresponds to 150-300 Mm3 of incremental oil, reported in 2005 by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).
An average of 5% improved oil recovery represents 20 MSm3 for Heidrun and about 30 MSm3 with Norne included.
With a CO2 pipeline in the Halten-Nordland area, more fields may be connected, representing an upside for CO2 injection in the region, as shown in the figure.
