– a small-scale “shared earth model”.
Data from well logs and cores provide important information about reservoir properties.
The data gathered from the well have a volume of investigation that is far below what we are currently able to capture in our 3D simulation model that covers the whole field.
The various logs and experiments on core material, often have significantly differing volume of investigation. Even combining the information from different data sources consistently can be challenging.
In near wellbore modelling, geological modelling of typical sediment geometries is done at relevant geological scales. The different data sources from the well are integrated into one common near wellbore model, assuring consistency.
The volume of investigation for each data source is accounted for through upscaling and downscaling.
The estimated properties include the entire range of reservoir properties, from single phase properties (like porosity, permeability and geological layering) to multi-phase (like saturations, relative permeability and capillary pressure) and log responses.
