Statoil’s strategy update of June 2011 sets a strong upstream focus and significant growth ambitions for Statoil towards 2020. Technology is highlighted as key to giving the company a competitive edge and critical to succeeding in a business environ¬ment with increased scope and complexity in the opportunity set, new business areas posing stricter demands on our licence to operate and tougher competition on access to resources.
 
The purpose of the Corporate technology strategy is to set the strategic direction for technology development and imple¬mentation to meet the corporate ambitions for 2020 and beyond. The strategy focuses on prioritisation of technologies for value creation, growth and access.
