Considerable gas position

Statoil is an important supplier of natural gas to the Netherlands. The company has a market share of 10-15 percent, whereas the total consumption in the country is about 45 billion cubic metres. 

The bulk of the gas is sold under long-term contracts.  These deliveries started in 1995 through the Europipe I pipeline.

Statoil is delivering a considerable volume of gas to the industrial end user market, primarily through our sales office in Belgium. We have a market share of 30 percent in this market segment.

The gas to the Netherlands is mainly delivered through Emden in Germany, where the Norwegian gas transport system is tied in to the Dutch system.
