Statoil is a key energy security partner for the UK and pursues a broad range of activities relating to energy production and sales in Britain. Statoil have a sales office for crude oil in London, and are a substantial supplier of gas to the British market. The London office is also the location for Statoil’s European natural gas trading organisation.
Statoil’s Global Strategy and Business development function is also headquartered in London.
On the upstream side, we are currently developing the Mariner oil field on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS), planned to come on stream in 2017. Statoil is also operator for the Bressay project and is a partner in the well-established fields Jupiter and Alba, as well as holding several exploration licences on the UKCS. The development and production activities are run from Statoil’s office in Aberdeen.
Statoil was the operator in the development phase for the 88 turbine Sheringham Shoal offshore Wind Farm, 20 kilometres off the coast of Norfolk. Sheringham Shoal started producing in 2012. The same year Statoil and Statkraft acquired the nearby Dudgeon offshore Wind Farm project. Statoil is also partners in the Dogger Bank offshore wind project and is pursuing a floating wind park project off the coast of Scotland.
