Teach First Norway is a collaborative project between the City of Oslo Education Agency and Statoil, initiated to strengthen Norwegian pupils’ competence and interest in natural sciences.
The project aims to attract excellent MSc students within natural sciences to teach at schools in Oslo.
Teach First Norway will give graduates a two-year development programme starting with several weeks of intensive training in the UK. After this, the candidates will return to Norway and teach mathematics and natural sciences at selected secondary and upper secondary schools in Oslo.
During the first year of the development programme the candidates will obtain formal teacher certification in cooperation with the University of Oslo. During the second year the candidates will attend selected courses managed by Statoil.
Statoil supports the programme to:
– Strengthen competence, results and the interest for natural sciences in general
– Improve recruitment to higher education, research and work life both in the short and long term
– Strengthen the awareness of the important role the teacher has, especially within natural sciences.
Statoil will follow the Teach First candidates’ performance and development as teachers and leaders. Statoil guarantees candidates a job interview after completion of the programme.
If the candidates are employed by Statoil they will enter our corporate graduate programme.
To qualify for the programme you need to be fluent in Norwegian or Swedish. You can find more information on our pages in Norwegian.
We encourage all international candidates to read more about Statoil’s own graduate programme here
