The Glitne oil field lies in blocks 15/5 and 15/6 in the Sleipner area of the Norwegian North Sea, about 40 kilometres north-west of Statoil's Sleipner East development.
The water depth in the area is about 110 metres.
Made in 1995, the Glitne find was delineated with a further well two years later. Work on production drilling and completion began in October 2000.
Glitne will be produced with Petrojarl I owned by Teekay Petrojarl Production ASA.
The field came on stream at the end of August 2001, with daily production of roughly 40,000 barrels at plateau.
