Embedding climate in our strategy

Positioning to create a low carbon advantage

We’re embedding climate into our strategy because we think it’s best for the earth and because we believe it will make us more competitive in the future. Going forward we look to our Climate roadmap for direction. A roadmap that is not only a platform for us, but an invitation to work with us in shaping the future of energy.

Can an oil and gas company be part of a sustainable energy future?

Reaching climate goals is not only about major political decisions, it is also about those little things everyone does every day. Many small efforts out on Statoils’ installations have resulted in 1.1 million tonnes in reduced emissions.

As head of sustainability in Statoil, Bjørn Otto Sverdrup meets experts from many professions: captains of supply vessels, drilling engineers and well operators, to name but a few. He says they all have one thing in common: they want to learn how to use less energy and operate more sustainably. What’s more, he believes they hold the key to achieving climate goals.

Career opportunities in Statoil

We believe there are major opportunities for Statoil in a world where the energy realities are changing.  To stay on top of things and be in the forefront of technological and environmental challenges we need new talent. You might be the one we need to solve the energy challenges of tomorrow.

An international energy player

Statoil is an active player in many of the most important oil and gas provinces in the world, and our international developments are expected to account for most of our future production growth. Much of the expertise and technology we take with us abroad has been shaped in the challenging environment of the Norwegian contintental shelf.
